Enabling remote grades allows us to color grade all of the clips in the timeline that share the same source media as the clip that I'm currently color grading. Imagine you're working on a project where you might have a long interview and you used 5 segments of that interview. Now those 5 segments are their own individual clips in the timeline but we know that the color grade for all of these should probably be the exact same. This is a situation where enabling Remote Grades would be perfect. This will allow for you to grade anyone of those clips and know that all the other interview clips will also be treated in the exact same way.
