Proxies

Proxies are such a helpful tool when editing! They essentially allow you to create a low-res version of your footage that you can edit without playback issues on your computer. This is especially helpful when working with 4k footage with lots of VFX and color grading. Once you export your video your low-res proxies are switched out for the original media so that you get the quality back for the export. Make sure to generate your proxies overnight or when you're not actively editing as they take time to create!
