Timeline Node
I basically look at the timeline node as an alternative to the Adjustment Layer. Just think of it as the final layer that sits ontop of everything else in your timeline. I use timeline nodes mainly to throw a lut over my entire timeline so that when I'm going through my selects I can be more inspired by the colors rather than just stare at log or raw footage. I also like to use the timeline node area to add effects like Grain or Halation to the overall timeline.
